Barium salt, sparingly soluble in water, used in glass, ceramics and electrode coatings.
Barium carbonate (BaCO3) is an inorganic barium salt occurring as a white, odorless crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water. It also occurs in nature as the mineral witherite. It is used primarily in the glass and ceramics industries, in glaze and frit production and in welding electrode coatings. It is an intermediate in the production of other barium compounds.
