A branched-chain alcohol used as a solvent in paint, varnish and ink formulations.

Isobutanol is a colorless solvent with a pungent odor. It is used for thinning paints/varnishes, as an intermediate in ester (isobutyl acetate, etc.) and plasticizer production, and also as an extraction solvent.
