Dicarboxylic acid that is the main raw material for nylon 6,6 production and is also used in polyester and polyurethane resins.
Adipic acid is a six-carbon dicarboxylic acid and occurs as a white crystalline powder. Its largest use is in nylon 6,6 fiber and resin production; it is also used in polyester polyols, in plasticizers and in the food industry as an acidity regulator (E355). It has limited solubility in water and is readily soluble in alcohol.
