Borax decahydrate (Na2B4O7·10H2O) is a natural sodium borate salt with a white crystalline structure. It is used as a water softener/buffering agent in detergents and cleaning products, as a flux in glass, ceramic and enamel production, and as a boron fertilizer in agriculture. It is also found in wood preservative formulations. It is classified under CLP because of its toxic effect on the reproductive system.
