Formic acid is the simplest carboxylic acid. The product is a 40% aqueous solution of formic acid. It is used as a silage/feed preservative additive, in leather tanning, in rubber latex coagulation, as a textile dyeing auxiliary and in descaling cleaning products. Its degree of corrosiveness varies with the concentration of the solution.
