Also known as: Chromium(VI) oxideChromic anhydride
Strongly oxidizing hexavalent chromium compound used in chrome plating (electroplating) baths and organic synthesis.
Chromium(VI) oxide is a dark red, hygroscopic, strongly oxidizing solid that forms a chromic acid solution when dissolved in water. It is mainly used in chrome plating (electrolytic plating) baths, in aluminum anodizing and as an oxidation reagent in organic chemistry. It is a high-risk substance classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic to the reproductive system.
