Phosphorus pentoxide in hygroscopic white powder form, used as a strong moisture absorbent and dehydrating agent.
Phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) is a strong dehydrating and drying agent that reacts violently with water. It is used as a dehydration reagent in organic synthesis, as a laboratory drying agent (desiccant) and in the production of certain phosphate esters.
