Extremely toxic inorganic cyanide salt used for leaching in gold/silver mining and in electroplating.
Potassium cyanide (KCN) is a colorless to white crystalline/granular salt that dissolves readily in water. It is used mainly in the cyanidation (leaching) process in gold and silver mining, in electroplating and in organic synthesis. It can be fatal within a very short time by inhalation, skin contact or ingestion; on contact with acids it releases toxic hydrogen cyanide gas.
