Salt used as a sulfur/reducing agent source in leather tanning, ore flotation and wastewater treatment.
Sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) is an inorganic salt obtained by the partial neutralization of sodium sulfide with hydrogen sulfide. It is commercially sold as light yellow flakes of a grade containing approximately 70% NaHS and more than 25% water of crystallization. It is used for dehairing in leather tanning, in ore flotation/beneficiation, in wastewater treatment and as a sulfur source in dye and rubber production. On contact with acids it releases toxic and flammable hydrogen sulfide gas.
