Reducing salt used as a fixer in photography and for dechlorination in water treatment.

Sodium thiosulfate is a salt with reducing properties, commercially sold generally in the pentahydrate crystalline form. It is used as a photographic film fixer, as a dechlorinating agent in drinking water and wastewater, for chlorine neutralization after textile bleaching and as a leaching agent in gold mining.
