Polyol used as a sweetener, humectant and stabilizer in food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.
Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol (polyol) obtained by the reduction of glucose. It is used in the food industry as a sweetener and humectant (E420), in cosmetics as a humectant, and in pharmaceutical formulations as a filler and sweetener. It is commercially often supplied as an aqueous solution (commonly 70%).
