Sulfited, lighter-colored and less astringent chestnut tannin extract used in leather tanning.
Chestnut tannin extract is a vegetable tanning material containing hydrolysable tannins (mainly castalagin and vescalagin), obtained by hot water extraction from the wood and bark of the chestnut tree (Castanea sativa). The 'Sweet' (sulfited) designation indicates a lighter-colored and less astringent processing grade.
