Alkanolamine used in gas treating (CO2 removal) and in surfactant and cement additive production.
Diethanolamine (DEA) is an alkanolamine obtained from the reaction of ammonia with ethylene oxide. It is used in natural gas sweetening (H2S/CO2 removal) processes, in surfactant/amide synthesis, in cement grinding aids and in metalworking fluids. Because its melting point is close to room temperature (approximately 28 °C), it may solidify in cool conditions.
