Strong oxidizer used in chlorine dioxide production; supplied as a 31% aqueous solution.
Sodium chlorite (NaClO2) is an inorganic salt used as the main raw material in chlorine dioxide (ClO2) production. This product is supplied as an aqueous solution of approximately 31% sodium chlorite by weight and is used as a precursor chemical in water treatment, textile/pulp bleaching and industrial disinfection applications. Because of its strong oxidizing properties, contact with organic substances and reducing agents carries a risk of fire/explosion.
