Pulp and Paper

This group covers the chemicals used in pulping, bleaching, stock preparation, sizing and coating in paper and board production.

Pulping and alkali demand

• Caustic soda in flake, bead and liquid form for pulp processing, with sodium silicate solutions in modulus 2, modulus 2 at 40 Baume and modulus 3.
• Sodium sulfite and sodium lignosulfonate, the latter a by-product of the paper industry.

Bleaching

• Sodium chlorate and sodium chlorite solution 31% for chlorine dioxide based pulp bleaching, hydrogen peroxide and sodium persulfate.
• Sodium hydrosulfite 88% and 90%, sodium bisulfite solution 35% and thiourea dioxide 65% as reductive bleaching agents.

Retention, sizing and strength

• Aluminum sulfate in solution and solid form as a sizing aid, anionic and cationic polyelectrolytes, PolyDADMAC and acrylamide as the polyacrylamide raw material.
• Guar gum and dicyandiamide as surface treatment and wet strength auxiliaries, polyvinyl alcohol in the 5-88, 17-88 and 24-88 classes and glyoxal 40% as a starch crosslinker for coating.

Coating, filling and auxiliaries

• Titanium dioxide in rutile and anatase grades as an opacifier and refined sodium sulfate as a filler.
• Nonylphenol ethoxylates as deinking and washing surfactants, tetrasodium and tetrapotassium pyrophosphate as dispersants, sulfamic acid for cleaning and CMIT/MIT 14% as a pulp and coating preservative.
• Quinoline yellow for paper dyeing.
