Sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) is an inorganic salt in the form of a white, hygroscopic powder. It is used in detergent formulations to remove water hardness by binding calcium/magnesium ions (sequestrant), in food processing as a humectant/texture modifier and in ceramic/textile production as a dispersant.
