Technical-grade stearic acid of Turkish production used in the soap, cosmetics and rubber industries.
Stearic acid (octadecanoic acid) is a saturated fatty acid obtained from vegetable and animal oils and fats. Technical-grade commercial products consist of a mixture of stearic (C18) and palmitic (C16) acid. It is used in soap production, as a cosmetic cream and lotion base, as an activator in rubber vulcanization and in candle production. According to the manufacturer's data sheet, this grade contains 42–47% C18 and 52–56% C16. Its iodine value is 0.5 max and its titer is 55–58 °C.
