Sodium bisulfite solution is an aqueous salt solution used as a dechlorinating, bleaching and reducing agent. It is also known on the market as liquid metabisulfite. It is used in water treatment plants for the removal of residual chlorine, in the textile and paper sectors for neutralization after bleaching, and in the food industry as a preservative and antioxidant.
