Inorganic salt used as an oxygen scavenger/reducing agent in boiler water and textile processes.

Anhydrous sodium sulfite is a white crystalline salt obtained by neutralizing sulfur dioxide with sodium hydroxide. It is used to scavenge dissolved oxygen in boiler water, in textile bleaching/reduction processes, in photographic baths and in pulp production. Its food grade form can be used as a preservative/antioxidant under the code E221.
