Opacifying auxiliary that gives a pearlescent effect in shampoos and lotions.

Ethylene glycol monostearate (EGMS) is a white, waxy solid obtained from the esterification of ethylene glycol with stearic acid. It is used as an opacifier giving a pearlizing effect in shampoos, liquid soaps and shower gels, and as a secondary emulsifier in creams and lotions.
