Anionic surfactant used in detergent and personal care formulations.

Alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS) is an anionic surfactant consisting of a mixture of sodium alkene sulfonate and sodium hydroxyalkane sulfonate, produced by sulfonation of C14-C16 alpha olefins. It is used as a foam booster/cleansing agent in shampoo, liquid soap and detergent formulations.
